What To Expect – Mid-Winter 2026
| Mid-Winter 2026 is fast approaching! We are excited to have you join us and appreciate your support.
Great Lakes FLAG Football League (GLFFL) is a 5v5, non-contact, recreational, Official NFL FLAG Football teaching league. We try to limit teams to 8-10 players to maximize playing time. There are no try-outs. Everyone participates.
Our program relies on Volunteer Coaches (usually parents) to coach our teams. Each team will have up to 3 volunteers assigned. We encourage all parents interested in volunteering to do so during the registration process. Positions available are: Head Coach, Assistant Coach, and Team Manager. Buddy & Coach requests should be made during the registration process. MID-WINTER 2026 MID-WINTER 2026 will be played INDOORS at:

Games are played indoors at the LAB on Sundays.
Games times are as follows: 4:30, 5:15, 6:00 & 6:45 PM
Games are 40 minutes long with a 40 minute practice prior to your game *Our Touchdown for Tots & 6U/7U Division are guaranteed the earliest start times
6U/7U, 8U/9U, 10/11U & 12/14U Coed Divisions:

(Refer to our sizing chart for jerseys, as the NFL FLAG styles/sizes have recently been updated)

-Tots is a Developmental Program with 4 weeks of instruction and 2 weeks of scrimmages.
NO practice beforehand.
*Players stay in the same age division for Fall/Winter/Spring
*The FLAG football calendar runs from August 1st thru July 31st

IMPORTANT DATES:
November 14: Mid-Winter registration begins.
December 31: Registration closes. Last day for guaranteed placement on a team. Late fee may apply based on availability.
After Registration Closes: We will be forming teams, creating schedules, and more during this time.
Rosters and schedules will be posted prior to the start of the season.
January 19: Mandatory Coaches Meeting, Zoom meeting for all coaches and managers.
January 25 : Meet & Greet. Teams will meet the coach, receive jersey, flagbelt and any additional merchandise that was ordered. Teams will also have their 1st practice on this day.
February 1: 1st Day of games. Games are 40 minutes long. Your practice is prior to your game each week. (NO practice for TOTS Program)
March 15: End of the regular season

EQUIPMENT:
*Jerseys, Flag Belts, and a mouth guard must be worn each week. Your jersey and flags, plus any additional merchandise you ordered during your registration, will be given to you at the Meet & Greet. Your player must have a mouth guard to participate. Bring your own, or conveniently purchase at NFL FLAG Table for $5.00 Cash/Venmo/CashApp.
*Athletic pants or shorts without pockets should be worn for practice & games. If participant wears shorts/pants with pockets, the pockets must be taped down to prohibit players' hands or fingers getting caught when pulling flags. We recommend purchasing NFL FLAG Pocket-less Shorts during Registration (but this is not mandatory). The shorts will match the NFL team jersey.
*Participants can wear any type of plastic molded cleats, athletic shoes or sneakers. No metal cleats.

Touchdown for TOTS
*This Program is designed for 3-5 year old Girls & Boys.
- If your child is 5 years old, you have the option to register for our TOTS Program or our 6U Division.
- If you are new to flag football, we recommend to begin with the TOTS Program to learn the basics.
- $125.00 registration includes the following:
NFL FLAG performance reversible jersey and NFL flag belt
- 40 minute long session each week on Sundays from 4:30-5:10 PM.
- Season runs the same as Mid-Winter 2026 with a Meet & Greet followed by 6 weeks of learning the basic FUNdamentals of NFL FLAG football.
- Each week consists of warm-ups, basic drills and HAVING FUN! *Scrimmages will be played the last couple weeks of the season. The TOTS Program DOES NOT have weekly practice before their program.
**The focus each week will always be GLFFL CORE VALUES, which are: Have FUN, Good Sportsmanship, Teamwork & Family Values
